Rowledge Pond Aquaculture

Something About Us

Rowledge Pond Fish Hatchery is committed to raising healthy troutMission: Rowledge Pond Aquaculture supplies premium quality trout to fish & game clubs, conservation organizations, municipalities, lake & watershed associations, and private lakes & ponds in Connecticut.

History: Rowledge Pond has been raising healthy, beautiful trout for Connecticut ponds, lakes and streams for over 60 years. The Rowledge Pond hatchery facility was founded by John Paul Rowins in 1953. Currently in its third generation of management, Rowledge Pond has remained a family owned and operated hatchery, providing quality fish since its inception. Our use of earthen ponds, combined with some of today’s best technology, allows us to provide fish of unmatched quality and condition.

Family Business: As a family owned and operated business we are small enough to provide the personal service you deserve, whether your order is for 300 fish or 3,000 fish. Being a local trout hatchery, we can supply the quantity of fish you desire and the quality of fish you’ve dreamed of.

Trout: We supply Brook Trout, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout in both the spring and fall. Although somewhat weather dependent, the typical spring delivery season is from mid March to mid June, while the typical fall delivery season is from mid September to the first week of December. We have a $300 minimum order of fish, plus delivery charges. Please call or email us for pricing, availability of fish, and a delivery quote.

Lake and Pond Health: Rowledge Pond Aquaculture can assess your pond or lake and develop a plan to keep it healthy. Our services include designing, building and installing aeration systems which meets both your property management objectives as well as the ecological needs of the pond. We are also a certified supplier of Triploid Grass Carp, the best method of biological control for aquatic vegetation, including pond weeds and algae.

Where: Situated in Fairfield County, CT, we are conveniently located for trout deliveries to Fairfield County, New Haven County, Litchfield County, Hartford County, Middlesex County, New London County, Tolland County, and Windham County. All trout orders are delivered. We have 4-wheel drive delivery trucks, allowing us to get to some of those “out of the way” delivery locations.

The liberation of fish in the State of Connecticut requires a Fish Liberation Permit from the DEEP-Inland Fisheries Division. There is no cost for the permit, and it can be downloaded from the Connecticut DEEP website.
